There is no verified universal release time. A judge’s order, accepted payment or property documents, unresolved holds and the jail’s processing are separate stages. Fulton says workload and state or national record checks can affect processing. Ask the holding facility what specific step remains before arranging pickup.

Separate the stages
Booking includes medical screening, property intake, fingerprints, photographs and warrant checks. A release order must then be usable for the actual case, the permitted bond or conditions must be satisfied and the facility must complete its release work. The Sheriff warns that intake and release processing vary with volume and the availability of database information.
A company accepting your payment, a court setting an amount and the jail accepting a bond are different events. Additional charges or holds may still prevent release. Pretrial screening, when ordered, is another stage. None of these steps gives this guide a basis to promise a number of hours.

Ask what is still outstanding
For county charge and bond questions, call 404-613-2002 or 404-662-3516 with the name and booking or SO number. Ask whether the current order has reached the jail, whether every bond is accepted, what other holds or conditions remain and which authority must resolve each one. Ask the actual holding facility for pickup instructions.
- If a bond was just submitted, which instrument or payment has been accepted and which has not?
- If another county or agency is involved, does the person face transfer instead of release to the public?
- If nothing further is required from the family, how should you obtain the next status update?
- Before traveling, where will release occur and how will the family be notified?

Nights, weekends and holidays
The Sheriff lists the Main Jail front desk as open 24 hours every day and cash bond processing as available around the clock. That does not establish round the clock availability for property approval, refunds, court recording or a private company. Confirm the hours for the task you actually need.
The Magistrate Court’s 2026 Order of Business schedules its regular first appearance calendar Monday through Saturday, with Saturday hybrid sessions. Its September 14–20 weekly assignment lists Saturday remote coverage. Older Clerk and Sheriff webpages give different times and weekend instructions, so do not rely on a blanket rule that weekend arrests must wait until Monday. Check the court’s current calendar and confirm the assigned session and attendance instructions with the jail and court.
Separate case calendars and holiday exceptions can apply. Call 404-613-2000 about the actual hearing, especially on a Sunday or holiday. No company’s office or phone hours are endorsed by this guide, and an answered phone does not prove that every release step can be completed then.

Waiting for a judge is a separate stage
A first appearance addresses the charges, counsel and possible bail or release conditions. It is not a trial or a hearing to dismiss the charges. The Clerk says the defendant will be told if the judge lacks authority to set bail or declines to set it. Some cases therefore require a separate decision before posting can begin.
A missing amount online does not tell you which of those situations applies. Ask about the actual order and next hearing. Legal first appearance timing rules are distinct from jail release processing and do not promise release by a particular hour.
